Office lit by LED fixtures

LED lighting · Commercial & property management

Lighting that pays for itself.

Lower your electrical bill from day one, with rebates and flexible financing that cover the upgrade.

Rebates, by province.

LED rebates for businesses in Canada are run by each province or utility, not federally. Here's what's active right now in the regions we work in, and what to check before you commit to a project.

Ontario (Save on Energy)

The main program if you're in Ontario, and the setup has changed recently.

  • Instant Discounts

Most lighting work that used to sit under the Retrofit program now runs through the Save on Energy Instant Discounts program. The discount comes off the price at participating distributors, and applies to retrofits of existing buildings that had less efficient lighting before.

  • Retrofit

Network lighting controls, horticultural lighting, and horticultural advanced lighting controls are still handled through Retrofit. Projects need approval before you start and must qualify for at least a $500 incentive. New construction lighting doesn't qualify.

  • No double dipping

If you take a Retrofit incentive, you can't also accept the Instant Discount from the distributor on the same lighting.

Retrofit Support Line: 1 844 303 5542 or retrofit@ieso.ca. They can assign you a rep and suggest contractors who have completed the program successfully before.

Elsewhere in Canada

Manitoba

Efficiency Manitoba has extended the 50% Customer Bonus on its Business Lighting Program for another year.

British Columbia

Businesses can get enhanced lighting rebates right now. Nonprofits have their own commercial lighting rebate, covering up to $200,000 in eligible costs.

New Brunswick

The Business Rebate Program pays back up to 25% of eligible project costs, with a lifetime cap of $250,000 per site, and lighting upgrades qualify.

Newfoundland

Newfoundland Power's Take Charge program covers lighting, but only fluorescent to LED conversions. Replacing LED with LED doesn't qualify.

Alberta

ERA's Energy Savings for Business program has already handed out all of its current funding.

Before you quote a project

Most programs require Design Lights Consortium (DLC) listed products that meet minimum efficacy and power factor levels. Funding is limited in every province, so it can run out. Check the amounts with the program or your distributor before quoting a project.
